Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.17 Download
The 1.17 version is a global update for Bedrock Edition, released on June 8, 2021. It is the first Caves & Cliffs update, in which many new blocks, objects, and creatures appeared.
New World Generation Options
Amethyst Geode
It is a new biome, or rather a structure that can be seen deep underground. Most often generated at the height from 0 to 40 but can also appear at a height of up to 60. It consists of amethyst blocks and their varieties. They are not so rare, so it’s quite easy to find them.
New Blocks
Block of Amethyst
It is a block generated in the new caves — amethyst geodes — right inside them. Unlike the budding amethyst, it is very easy to get — it will be enough just to dig with a pickaxe. In this update, the amethyst block is not used in crafting — perhaps it will become very useful in the future. It can also be obtained in another way — by connecting 4 amethyst shards.
Budding Amethyst
It is another block generated in amethyst geodes. It cannot be obtained in the usual way. If you break such a block, nothing drops out of it. Even if you use a tool with the silk touch enchantment, you still won’t get it. It is used only in a cave itself when clusters germinate on it.
Amethyst Bud
It sprouts on budding amethyst. It has three stages of growth. First, a small bud appears, later an average one sprouts, and then a large one can be seen. Each stage is a separate block — this is the salient feature of this block as a growing one. To get a bud, you will need a tool with the silk touch enchantment.
Amethyst Cluster
It is the last stage of an amethyst bud’s growth. When it is destroyed, amethyst shards are dropped. If you destroy an amethyst cluster with a pickaxe, you can get 4 shards. If you employ another extraction method, then only 2 shards are dropped. If you want to obtain a whole cluster, you need to use a tool with the silk touch enchantment.
Calcite
It is a thin layer between amethyst and smooth basalt. It has no application except as a building block.
Smooth Basalt
It is a block located in the outer layer of amethyst geodes. It can also be obtained in another way — by smelting ordinary basalt. Smooth basalt is a building block.
Copper Ore
It is a new ore type generating underground. It has the same value as iron. Besides, it has the same rarity level as iron and is generated at the same levels. During its extraction, some amount of raw copper is dropped. The latter can be smelted into copper ingots.
Blocks of Copper
A block of copper can be crafted with 9 copper ingots. It is as valuable as an iron block and can be used for the same purposes. It has a certain feature: in an open space, a copper block will oxidize, changing its texture, and its color will become verdigris . To stop the oxidation process, you need to use honeycombs. You can also craft a cut copper block from which slabs and steps are made. This variety suffers the same oxidation process as the copper block itself.
Block of Raw Metal
There are three varieties of the raw metal block: gold, iron, and copper. It is used only as a decorative or building material. It is crafted with 9 raw ore . That is, a raw gold block is crafted with raw gold.
Lighting Rod
It is a special device capable of receiving lightning strikes at a distance of about 128 blocks. It can be installed on each side of a block. It has the same color as copper. When lightning strikes it, a lightning rod will change its texture to white. Besides, it will emit a redstone signal of the maximum intensity.
Deepslate
It is a new, more dark, kind of stone generating on the lower levels. It can be found approximately at a height from 0 to 16. When you mine it, you get cobbled deepslate. If you want to get a whole block, you need to use a pickaxe with the silk touch enchantment. It is slightly stronger than an ordinary stone, so the mining time will be a bit longer. Deepslate will generate in the same layers as stone, partially replacing it.
Cobbled Deepslate
It is the same block as the cobblestone and can be obtained by mining deepslate. It has the same application as the cobblestone; that is, you can use it in crafting various tools. It differs from the cobblestone only in texture. It is also possible to craft some varieties from it, that is, steps, slabs, and others. To get the deepslate back, you can simply smelt it, as in the case of the cobblestone.
Deepslate Ores
They are new ore types that generate in a layer of deepslate. They have the same application as the usual ores. They are much stronger than the latter, so it will take twice as long to mine them. They can be smelted into ordinary items, that is, ingots, etc. All the ores have acquired a texture appropriate to a deep layer. This applies to iron, gold, emerald, diamond, redstone, and lapis lazuli ore.
Pointed Dripstone
It is a block that generates in caves. It is the first growth stage of stalactites and stalagmites. When a pointed dripstone is located on the lower face of a block, then a stalactite is formed; otherwise, a stalagmite appears. It is a rather fragile block; if you throw a trident at it, it will break. Stalagmite can be destroyed if there is no block under it. When it falls, a mob or player who is at that place will receive damage. This damage level will be different, depending on how high the stalagmite was. If you decide to jump on a stalagmite, this is a bad idea because you will also receive damage of 2 health points. Stalactites have similar features; when they fall, they will collapse, that is, disappear. If there is a player or mob there, they will take damage. When falling from a height of two blocks, a stalactite will deprive you of only 2 health points, but if the height is more than three blocks, the damage will be twice as much.
Tuff
A new grayish kind of stone that generates in the deepslate layer. It has no special features and can only be used as a building block.
Flora
Azalea
It is a new plant that can grow on the ground or turf. To get it, you can use bone meal on a moss block. It can also appear in a different, natural way. It can be with or without pink flowers. If you use bone meal on azalea, you can get a plant. Bees may pollinate this plant, provided it has pink flowers.
Azalea Leaves
They are the foliage that grows on an azalea tree. They can be of two varieties, with or without pink flowers. When they are destroyed, sticks can be dropped, along with the azalea itself.
Moss Block
It is a new block, which resembles the grass block but is completely covered with moss on all sides. If you use bone meal on it, a mossy cover may appear, along with grass and azalea. If you use bone meal on a stone, there is a chance that a moss block will appear, replacing the previous one. To break this block faster, you can use an axe or hoe.
Moss Carpet
It is a layer of moss that appears when using bone meal on a moss block. It is one-pixel-thin. It can also be obtained by crafting from moss blocks.
Spore Blossom
It is an unusual block that can only be placed at the bottom of another block. When it is open, green particles are emitted by it and fly around.
Rooted Dirt
It is a new kind of dirt, very similar to the ordinary block but containing a lot of stones. If you use bone meal on it, hanging roots will appear at the bottom of a block. If you want to get coarse dirt from this block, you need to use a hoe.
Big Dripleaf
It is a unique block with some special features. It is practically not used anywhere, at least now. When the player steps on a dripleaf, nothing will happen for the first 2 seconds. After 1.5 seconds, it will begin to bend, and after another 0.5 seconds, it will bend completely, and the player will fall off it. After a while, if no one is standing on it, the dripleaf will return to its original position. To prevent this completely, you need to power it with redstone.
Small Dripleaf
It is a plant that can grow up to three blocks. It can be obtained with the help of shears. It can grow both on land and in water. However, small dripleaf will not grow on every block. On land, it can be planted only on a clay block or on a moss block. In the water, it grows on turf and clay block. After undergoing several growth stages, it eventually becomes a big dripleaf. If you break it at a growth stage, nothing will drop out of it.
Hanging Roots
They can only be placed on the lower part of a block without further restrictions. To get them, you need to use a hoe on rooted dirt.
Tinted Glass
It is a new glass type that will prevent sunlight from entering your structures. However, its transparency is quite high, so you will still see everything. It is crafted with 4 amethyst shards and glass. To break the block and get it whole, you do not need a tool with the silk touch enchantment.
Glow Lichen
It is a new kind of lichen that will rarely generate in caves. It has a special feature related to the fact that it will provide lighting inside caves. It emits a light level of 7, which is quite serious inside dark caves. To get it, you need to use shears; otherwise, the lichen will simply collapse, and you will not get anything.
Glow Item Frame
It is a new kind of item frame that will be slightly more efficient than the ordinary one. An item placed within this frame will glow. At the same time, the frame itself will not shine. To craft a glow item frame, you need to mix a glow inc sac with an item frame.
Powder Snow
It is a new kind of snow with new features. On this block, all creatures will drown. This also applies to the player, but to prevent this, you can wear leather boots. However, even after that, you can also drown in the block if you sit down. If a mob or player stays inside powder snow for a long time, they begin to freeze and suffer damage. After you start drowning in powder snow, your screen will start to freeze. After a while, your health indicator will freeze; that is, its texture will change, and you will begin to take damage. To collect powder snow, you need to use a bucket; otherwise, it simply collapses.
New Mobs
Goat
Three new mobs have been added to the game world, one of them being the goat. It spawns only on the mountains. It resembles a sheep but has larger horns and much denser wool. It makes characteristic sounds, which are slightly different from the ones of a sheep. You can breed them, but it’s not profitable. You need to use wheat for that. However, it drops nothing. It is a friendly mob and will start to run away when attacked. But sometimes, when a goat looks at you for a long time, it may attack. With a small probability, uncommon goats can spawn, which will scream and attack.
Glow Squid
It is a new species of squid that emits a little light. It practically does not differ from the usual one in behavior. These squids are the main prey of axolotls, which immediately begin to attack them. When taking damage, it stops glowing for a second. When it dies, glow ink sacs are dropped. When a glow squid is in motion, it produces blue particles.
Axolotl
It is a new underwater mob, which resembles a fish in behavior. It can feature different textures. You can encounter pink, snow, gold, brown, and the rarest one — blue. This creature appears only in underground waters, where there are stones nearby. But they can be caught with a bucket and relocated. They are friendly mobs, and if you attack them, they will play dead with the regeneration effect activated.
New Items
Amethyst Shard
It is a new item that can be obtained by mining an amethyst cluster with a pickaxe. It is quite a useful item that can be applied in crafting of, say, tinted glass. To increase the number of shards when mining, you can use a pickaxe with the fortune enchantment.
Copper Ingot
It is an item that can be obtained by smelting copper ore or raw copper. It is also a useful item, as it can be applied in the crafting of a lightning rod, etc.
Glow Berries
They are edible and restore 2 hunger points. You can feed them to foxes. They are obtained by destruction of or extraction from cave vines.
