Snapshot Minecraft 24w45a Java Edition Download (Review)

24w45a is the second snapshot for Java Edition 1.21.4, which was released on November 6, 2024. It contains several changes that affect blocks, items, and entities. Besides, the developers have fixed the bugs, making the game better.

Changes

Blocks

The update affects two in-game blocks:

The creaking heart no longer drops experience when taken from creative mode.
The sculk sensor starts emitting signals if there are resin clumps nearby.

Items

Some of the changes have affected items as well:

The eyeblossom is now properly placed in the Natural Blocks tab in creative mode.
The durations of the suspicious stew's effects have been changed.
The resin brick has become the armor trimming material.

Mobs

There are also several significant changes that have affected mobs:

The AI's approach to choosing weapons have been changed. Many mobs now try to pick up weapons that are much better than they already have.
The spawn principle of baby wolves and cats has been changed. They now acquire an original collar, whose color is a kind of mixture between the colors of their parents' collars.
Piglins and pillagers will prefer crossbows.
Bees now do not chase a player with an eyeblossom in their hands and do not seek to interact with this flower.
The bogged, strays, and skeletons now try to pick up bows.
When a creaking receives the invisibility effect, its eyes can be seen. In adventure and survival modes, it will not move when you are looking at it.
The drowned now prefer tridents.

Entities

The only change in this regard is related to experience orbs. They now bounce up off the ground.

World Generation

The changes have mainly affected the woodland mansion. In its chests, you can now find resin clumps.

Bug Fixes

Bug fixes are usually included in each update. In particular, 24w45a brings 75 bug fixes. Let us consider the most significant among them:

If you use the command autocomplete, the fragment after a slash will no longer be taken into account.
Ender dragon's hitboxes have been optimized and do not move after its death.
If you move quickly on a boat's deck, you will see sprint particles.
The spyglass texture has been optimized and now does not disappear when you use themed mods.
The trial spawners can now forget assigned mobs when used in creative mode.
If you play in a small window, it will now not be blocked by the experiments warning.
The item scrolling process has been refined, and items will now not change their color.
If a game world is being updated, the containers that are different from the updated world are now blocked.
The game will no longer crash when you use a loom.
If you use a wind charge and attack a creaking heart, it will be destroyed along with the summoned creaking.

Installation

Step 1. Open TLauncher and go to the Settings tab by clicking the gear icon in the lower right corner.

Step 2. Select the Display Snapshots checkbox, and do not forget to save the changes by clicking the appropriate button at the bottom.

Step 3. On the main screen of TLauncher, open the version selection tab, select the desired snapshot, and click 'Install' or 'Launch the Game' if the snapshot is already installed.
