Blocking of Minecraft in Russia [Details]

Quite ‘unexpectedly’, it turned out that during the mass blocking of Amazon servers in Russia, some of the IP addresses used by Mojang (they use Amazon servers) were added to Roskomnadzor’s blacklist, and access to them was blocked. Consequently, some players (a small percentage) are unable to download Minecraft via our launcher (we deliver the game from the developers’ servers), or indeed via any other launcher.
UPDATE: The issue has been resolved and the IP addresses have been unblocked. However, no one knows when this might happen again.
Here is a list of the IP addresses that were blocked: 52.85.245.4, 52.222.252.100 (as well as all similar ones – 52.85.*.* and 52.222.*.*). It may seem surprising that this decision dates back to 2015, but these addresses were only blocked in 2018; this decision is simply still being applied...

How to tell whether you are having trouble downloading the game because your computer is trying to connect to blocked IP addresses:
- You cannot download the game via our launcher or the official one.
- You cannot log in to your Mojang account.
The most effective way to check is as follows:
1) Open the Start menu and type “CMD” (without quotation marks) into the search bar, then open the programme.
2) Type the following command and press Enter:
ping libraries.minecraft.net -4
3) If all packets were lost and the IP address displayed is one of those mentioned above, the problem is caused by the IP address being blocked (if the packets were received and the IP address is different, the problem may lie elsewhere; try disabling your antivirus and firewall, for example).

4) To resolve the issue, you can use a VPN or simply download the latest beta version of the launcher: Windows and MacOS/Linux; we have resolved this issue by transferring the files to our servers.
