Problems starting the launcher and Minecraft due to the NVIDIA driver
Dear launcher users and Minecraft enthusiasts, we have some unfortunate news for you: a compatibility issue has been discovered between the new NVIDIA drivers and TLauncher and Minecraft.
After installing the NVIDIA graphics card driver version 378.49, dated 24 January 2017, the game and the launcher will no longer start.
We ask that you refrain from updating, even if prompted to do so by their update program; please wait for the bug to be fixed in the next version.
Users whose launcher has stopped working after the update should read the article “Solution: TLauncher won’t start”.
If you are getting an error with code -1073740791 on launch, please read the article “Fix for the error: 'Minecraft closed with exit code: -1073740791' in TLauncher”.
In both cases, you’ll need to roll back to the latest working version of the drivers; the last link provides an illustrated guide. Thank you for your understanding!
Update dated 14 February 2017: NVIDIA has released a new update, version 378.66, that fixes the error, so update and the error will no longer occur!
