Snapshot Minecraft 25w15a Java Edition Download (Review)

Snapshot Minecraft: Java Edition 25w15a, released on April 8, 2025, became part of the preparation for the next major update of the game — 1.21.6. Mojang continues to experiment with unique mechanics and the addition of unusual creatures, items, and blocks to liven up both world exploration and player interaction. In 25w15a, players got the opportunity to meet a new friendly mob — the Happy Ghast, as well as explore unusual features related to interaction and movement within the Nether. In addition, interface changes were added that can make multiplayer gameplay more convenient and visual.

Innovations

First, it's worth finding out what the developers added in this snapshot:

New achievements

Withered Ghast

- The Withered Ghast can be found in natural conditions in Nether fossil structures, which appear in the Nether.

- It also has a crafting recipe: 1 bone block and 8 ghast tears around it.

- If placed underwater, a Ghastling (a small version of the Happy Ghast) will appear after 20 minutes.

- Emits sounds and green particles while in water.

- Has 3 soaking stages: sad, neutral, and happy.

- If you break the Withered Ghast or dry the block it's in, the soaking timer will reset.

Ghastling

- After appearing, the Ghastling will follow the player or a passive mob (if the player wasn't there) that was within a 16-block radius when it hatched.

- If there was no player or mob, it will fly within a 32-block radius from the spawn point.

- Grows into a Happy Ghast 20 minutes after spawning. Growth can be accelerated by right-clicking with a snowball in hand (click, but don’t throw).

Happy Ghast

- A happy alternative to the usual Ghast, it can be tamed with snowballs and a harness.

- Can be equipped with a harness and carry up to 4 players at once.

- Cannot be bred.

- The player can control the flight of the Happy Ghast.

Harness

- An item that allows the player to ride the Happy Ghast; crafted from 3 pieces of leather, 1 wool block, and 2 glass blocks.

- The harness can be dyed in any of the 16 colors.

- Can only be equipped on a Happy Ghast.

- Can be removed by right-clicking with shears.

Achievements

The 25w15a snapshot adds two achievements:

- “Ghastpitality!” for placing a Withered Ghast in water.

- “Creaking Heart” for placing a Scripvine between two Pale Wood logs in the correct position.

Installation

Step 1. Open TLauncher and go to the Settings tab by clicking the gear icon in the lower right corner.

Step 2. Select the Display Snapshots checkbox, and do not forget to save the changes by clicking the appropriate button at the bottom.

Step 3. On the main screen of TLauncher, open the version selection tab, select the desired snapshot, and click 'Install' or 'Launch the Game' if the snapshot is already installed.
