Minecraft 1.21.11 Java Edition Download

On December 9, 2025, Minecraft: Java Edition received one of the most unusual updates in recent times — version 1.21.11 titled Mounts of Mayhem. This drop is entirely dedicated to new ridable creatures, equipment for them, and fresh weapons that change the approach to combat. The update noticeably refreshes Survival mode by adding more dynamism, danger, and opportunities for exploring the world.

New mobs
Cadaver Camel — a camel variant in undead form from the update that appears on the surface of deserts. Most often it spawns immediately with two riders — a spear-wielding cadaver and a dune dweller, which turns it into a full-fledged combat unit. It has an impressive health pool of 32 points and, if a hostile mob is riding it, fully obeys it, purposefully moving toward the player, whereas without a rider it remains friendly and can despawn like a regular hostile mob (which can be prevented if you mount it). It feeds on rabbit feet, cannot be bred, and upon death drops 2–3 units of rotten flesh.

Dune Walker — a new hostile mob in the update, representing a special desert variety of skeleton that spawns only on the surface of deserts at zero light level, partially replacing regular skeletons, while unlike them it does not spawn in caves and is completely immune to sunlight, making it a dangerous opponent even during the day. With a standard health pool of 16 points, the dune walker attacks with arrows of weakness, significantly reducing the player's combat capability, and its increased reload time, like that of the bog skeleton, is compensated by a high tactical threat due to the applied effects.

Nautilus — a neutral aquatic mob that appears in all ocean biomes and has a health pool of 15 points. In its normal state it is non-aggressive, but when provoked it attacks with a swift dash; it hunts nearby pufferfish in the same manner. On land, the nautilus begins to suffocate and take damage, which makes it a strictly aquatic creature, but during riding it applies a unique effect called “Nautilus Breath” to the rider, allowing them to stay underwater longer. It can be bred using pufferfish or a bucket of pufferfish, and after taming it can be equipped with a saddle for movement; when the jump key is pressed, it performs a sharp dash like a camel. However, after taming it receives a movement radius limit — 16 blocks with a saddle and 32 without it, and upon death it has a 5% chance to drop a nautilus shell.

Zombie Nautilus — a variety of nautilus in undead form that appears in all ocean biomes already mounted by a drowned armed with a trident, and in warm oceans it has a separate coral variation. By itself it behaves almost the same as a regular nautilus, however it cannot be bred and becomes hostile only if an aggressive mob is riding it. Unlike the living nautilus, it does not suffocate on land, but instead burns in sunlight, from which it can be protected by equipped nautilus armor, and upon death it drops rotten flesh.

New items
Spear — a universal weapon presented in seven variants at once — wooden, stone, copper, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite, with the chosen material directly affecting speed and combat characteristics. The key feature is the presence of a minimum attack distance, because of which a target standing too close takes no damage, but the spear has an increased maximum attack range compared to other weapon types. In addition, zombies, cadavers, as well as regular and zombified piglins can now spawn with a spear in hand, and in combat it supports two attack modes — a thrust and a running strike. The spear is crafted from 2 sticks and the corresponding material; for example, a wooden one requires a plank.

Nautilus Armor is intended for both the regular nautilus and the zombie nautilus, allowing their survivability and combat potential to be increased. It is available in five variants — copper, gold, iron, diamond, and netherite, with all versions except the netherite one being obtainable from treasure chests, underwater ruins, and shipwrecks. If unnecessary, the armor can be smelted in a regular or blast furnace, returning part of the resources.
