Minecraft 26.1 Snashot-4 Java Edition Download (Overview)
26.1 Snapshot-4 is the fourth test snapshot for Minecraft: Java Edition version 26.1, released on January 20, 2026. Despite the absence of major gameplay additions, the update brings noticeable visual changes and technical fixes. The main focus is on baby horses: the developers have updated the models of foals, donkey foals, mules, as well as baby zombie horses and skeleton horses. In addition, new tags for developers have been added and a number of bugs affecting stability and proper game performance have been fixed.

Main New Features
Updated Baby Mobs
A whole set of new sounds has been added for horses, making the behavior of baby horses more lively and expressive. The wing texture of baby chickens has also been fixed — a small but noticeable visual adjustment. Snapshot-4 places significant emphasis on baby animals, especially horses and their variants. The models and textures of baby mobs have been completely redesigned:
- Foals (all breeds)
- Donkey foals
- Mules
- Baby zombie horses and skeleton horses
Bug Fixes
The snapshot fixes a number of bugs, many of which affect world generation, creature behavior, and villager trading. Among them:
- Shipwrecks no longer break at chunk borders.
- Issues with beacon beam rendering have been resolved.
- Incorrect behavior of stone creatures (Piglins, Hoglins, Wardens, etc.) has been fixed.
- Trading issues where merchants offered incorrect items or prices have been removed.
- Minor graphical bugs (for example, transparent blocks were rendered incorrectly) have been fixed.
Installation
Step 1. Open TLauncher and go to the Settings tab by clicking the gear icon in the lower right corner.
Step 2. Select the Display Snapshots checkbox, and do not forget to save the changes by clicking the appropriate button at the bottom.
Step 3. On the main screen of TLauncher, open the version selection tab, select the desired snapshot, and click 'Install' or 'Launch the Game' if the snapshot is already installed.
